Workshop On Medieval Indian Coins

Under the joint auspices of Hinduja Foundation and the Indian Numismatic, Historical and Cultural Research Foundation, the first of a series of three proposed week-long practical training workshops was organized on medieval Indian coins at the INHCRF campus at Anjaneri, Nasik from 3rd January to 9th January 2020, headed by Dr. Danish Moin, Associate Professor and Head, Dept. of History, Maulana Azad National Urdu University, Hyderabad.

There were 12 participants from different parts of the country, including Telangana, UP and Gujarat, who attended. The workshop included a course on understanding the typology of medieval Indian coins. Different series of medieval coins were shown to the participants to familiarize them with their fabric and typology, and their important features were explained. Another course module was on the identification and classification of medieval Indian coins. 

Dr. Danish Moin helped the participants decipher the inscriptions on the coins they had classified and identified in the previous course and also showed them images of coins belonging to different series of medieval coins.
